Over three hundred years, scurvy killed more than two million sailors, and when a Scottish doctor announced that the cure was ordinary lemons, the world refused to believe him for decades. That story opens a reflection on the Annunciation, the good news the angel Gabriel brings to young Mary from despised Nazareth (Luke 1). That is why it’s worth listening to the one truly Good News, which, even though it’s over 2,000 years old, can change every person’s life for the better.
