The same dream keeps coming back to the preacher: the wife whose heart was always his turns cold and says she could leave, and he wakes at three in the morning with his heart pounding. Betrayal and love gone cold are where this story begins, as a woman caught in adultery is dragged into the temple (John 8). But more sins than hers are on display, because her accusers use her just as instrumentally and betray the heart of the law, which was meant to protect the community. Listen and ask whether in that scene you are standing with a stone in your hand or at the feet of Jesus.
Another Chance
One on One
Who wouldn’t want to be able to change the world for the better? Although God Himself will bring about this ultimate change, there is a place for each of us in His plan, because He wants to use each of us. And Jesus Himself set an example for us of how we can do this. When we look at how Jesus interacted with those around Him, we discover that although He was often surrounded by crowds, He always paid attention to individuals. His approach was one-on-one. So how can we use that one encounter, that one meal, that one conversation, so that one person might experience the goodness of God Himself?
