The surgeon general of the United States said that the country’s greatest disease is not cancer or heart disease but isolation. We live in the age of social media and at the same time in the loneliest era in history. That diagnosis opens a sermon about the fourth chapter of First John (1 John 4). John returns there to love for the third time and writes about it with no preconditions, because love is what holds together a community in which people can finally build real closeness. Listen if you have plenty of people around you and not one close relationship.
