At the gym a much bigger man came up to him, looked down and said that what he was doing was not exercise at all, and then showed him how it should be done. What was left was a feeling nobody enjoys: somebody had seen us as we really are. That memory opens a sermon about the hundred and thirty ninth psalm (Psalm 139). David does not run from a God who knows him completely, but himself asks God to search his heart, because the only way to understand yourself is to know the one who knows you best. Listen if you are afraid that anyone who really knew you would leave.

Dangerous Prayers
What could be dangerous about prayer? But if prayer is a conversation with God, then some of those conversations can bring about more change than you might expect. When you say to God, “Who are You, Lord? Examine me, Lord. Speak to me, Lord, and let Your will be done, Lord”, God takes these prayers seriously and begins to change your life. Do you dare to have such a conversation with God?
