When God Builds Community

At a school Christmas party a note lay beside the biscuits reading: take one, God is watching. At the other end of the table stood cakes with no note, so one of the boys took three and explained to his friend that God was not keeping an eye on those. That story opens a sermon about the first community in Jerusalem (Acts 2). Luke describes people devoted to the apostles’ teaching, to the breaking of bread and to prayer, sharing according to need, and such a community is the sum of thousands of small everyday decisions. Listen if you are heading into a new year and looking for one thing worth raising to a higher level.
