King Midas was granted one wish by the god of wine and asked that everything he touched turn to gold. By evening the table had turned to gold, then the food, and finally his own daughter. That tale opens a sermon about the prayer Jesus taught his disciples (Matthew 6). God is not a wish granting fish who fulfils our ideas of a good life, but a good Father who is more interested in our being good than in our being comfortable. Listen if your prayers most often sound like a wish list.

Dangerous Prayers
What could be dangerous about prayer? But if prayer is a conversation with God, then some of those conversations can bring about more change than you might expect. When you say to God, “Who are You, Lord? Examine me, Lord. Speak to me, Lord, and let Your will be done, Lord”, God takes these prayers seriously and begins to change your life. Do you dare to have such a conversation with God?
