Faith Despite

The world around us doesn’t seem like a friendly place to build faith. It feels more like a place where faith is tested, because everything seems to be falling apart before our eyes. Just as in the past, great powers flex their muscles and try to rewrite the order of the world.

More and more conflict and aggression.
More and more unrest and reasons for fear.
Less and less sense of security and hope.

As followers of Jesus, we often don’t feel at home here, but more like refugees in a foreign land. That is why we can learn so much from the book of Daniel, which speaks about a faithful God and about faith “despite,” even in an unfriendly environment. You can live with God in any place.
