How do you actually know that the teacher you listen to in a podcast or online is telling the truth? We live in a world of many teachings and many teachers, and this sermon takes us to Jerusalem, where Peter explains to an astonished crowd why the healing of the lame man had nothing to do with human power or piety (Acts 3). The message shows that what we believe and whom we listen to carries very real consequences, and that the first church devoted itself to the apostles teaching together, in conversation, not alone. Therefore, as we read the story of the Church’s beginnings, we want to remind ourselves anew of what our mission in this world is and take a look at some of the practices of the early Christians that help build true community.
