A schoolboy stood in front of the headmaster, who had to give him the punishment he had earned. The headmaster took off his belt, handed it to the boy, held out his own arm and said one word: grace. That story opens a sermon about the sixth chapter of Romans (Romans 6). Paul asks there whether, since grace is free, we may as well go on sinning, and answers that a person who has died to sin with Christ simply does not want to go back to it. Listen if grace strikes you as too cheap to change anything.
