An unbelieving friend asked the preacher: if ninety odd per cent of Poles are Christians, then who commits all the evil there is around us? It can hardly be pinned on the few per cent who declare no faith. That question opens a sermon about the parable of the sower (Matthew 13). Jesus explains there that the same seed falls on four different soils and bears fruit on only one, because the gap between being a Christian and living like one is nothing new. When Jesus taught, he often told seemingly simple stories called parables. At first glance, they resembled IMAGES of everyday life. However, when his listeners looked closely at them, those IMAGES became MIRRORS in which they could see their own faces. And as they continued to look at them, the MIRRORS became WINDOWS through which they could view life from a completely new perspective, because in these stories, somewhere BETWEEN THE LINES, important lessons about God and life are hidden.
