On a hill above Pergamum stood a temple shaped like a throne, and in the city Jesus calls the place where Satan’s throne is, Antipas died, the only martyr named in Revelation. Along the route once used to deliver mail were the seven churches of Asia Minor. It is to these communities that Jesus addresses the seven letters found in the Book of Revelation. However, upon reading them carefully, we discover that their message is astonishingly relevant today and applies to the entire Church and to all followers of Jesus who, in various places and circumstances, await His second coming.
