He was fourteen, he lost a card game and had to carry out a forfeit that left him standing in front of his friends red with shame. Years have passed and the scene still comes back, because shame does not merely say that I did something bad, it says that I am bad. That memory opens a sermon about the woman brought to Jesus with stones waiting in the background (John 8). Jesus does not pretend that nothing happened, but he first disperses the crowd, then lifts her off the ground, and only then speaks about changing her life. Listen if you carry a scene you would rather never revisit.

Why Me?
In life, we go through various experiences and feel all kinds of emotions. Sometimes it seems like no one understands us, because we’re the only ones struggling with them. Sometimes we also ask ourselves, “Why me?” However, when we turn to the Bible, we can view our struggles from a different perspective. What’s more, we discover that our experiences are nothing new, because many people before us have gone through them, and many Christians are going through them right now-we are not alone.
