The watch on your wrist will count steps, heart rate, hours of sleep and minutes of stillness, but it will not tell you how many days you have left or what to spend them on. We measure more and more things and keep missing the one thing worth counting. That observation opens a sermon about the ninetieth psalm (Psalm 90). Moses asks God there to teach him to number his days, not so that he lives in fear of the end, but so that his heart gains wisdom and the trace of his work does not vanish along with him. Listen if you feel the year has gone by without your noticing.
