Why does God stay silent while evil around us grows stronger and injustice goes unpunished? The prophet Habakkuk brought that question to God, and the answer he received turned out to be harder than the question itself, the cure seemed worse than the disease (Habakkuk 1-3). This sermon shows that God’s justice works on the scale of eternity rather than our short span of time, and that its heart is not deeds but faith: the righteous will live by faith. The Time of the Prophets
In the whirlwind of everyday life, it’s easy to forget that we live in God’s presence and that we are accountable to Him for our choices. That’s why, sometimes, God has to step into our world to remind us of this. In the Old Testament, He did this through the prophets, who were His voice to the people. Although their books were written centuries ago, their voice still rings out clearly and is astonishingly relevant to us today as well. We, too, have similar questions and face similar challenges. So let’s listen to what God is saying to us through His prophets known as the “minor prophets.” They were called this not because they were less important, but simply because their books were shorter. Short and very timely.
