A German theologian wrote to a friend from a Nazi prison and asked why the people of the Old Testament lie, plot, steal and commit adultery, and God still uses them. There is no better example than a story in which the most positive character turns out to be a prostitute who lies. That story opens a sermon about Rahab and the spies in Jericho (Joshua 2). God used a woman nobody would hold up as a model of morality, and not because she had earned it, but because he is gracious and equips the people he calls. Listen if you think you are of no use to God at all.
