Four men carry a paralysed friend, but the doorway of the house in Capernaum is packed solid, so they climb onto the roof and start pulling it apart. That scene from the second chapter of Mark (Mark 2) opens a reflection on faith that can be seen, and on why Jesus begins not with healing but with the forgiveness of sins. The sermon asks an uncomfortable question: which people in this story are we, the ones carrying, or the ones sitting comfortably inside? Who Is Jesus?
Questions are like keys. They open doors, prompt us to seek answers, and lead to important discoveries. Some of these questions are more important than others, because so much depends on them. One of the most important questions is: Who is Jesus? Was He a fraud who deceived His disciples and then millions of people around the world? A madman suffering from delusions of grandeur?
