That scene opens a reflection on the first of the seven letters in Revelation, the letter to the church in Ephesus, a community with endurance, moral clarity and a nose for false teachers, which nevertheless heard: you have abandoned the love you had at first (Revelation 2). Along the route once used to deliver mail were the seven churches of Asia Minor. It is to these communities that Jesus addresses the seven letters found in the Book of Revelation. However, upon reading them carefully, we discover that their message is astonishingly relevant today and applies to the entire Church and to all followers of Jesus who, in various places and circumstances, await His second coming.
