A documentary about the lives of millionaires said that wealth is no longer measured in yachts or private jets but in the number of people who serve you. It gets to the point where the maid or the gardener has a servant of their own, because the larger the staff the greater the prestige. That observation opens a sermon about the tenth chapter of Mark (Mark 10). James and John ask Jesus for the places at his right and his left, and he answers that he himself came not to be served but to serve and to give his life. Listen if you would rather give orders than carry them out.

There are invitations that change everything. This is true of the invitation Jesus extends to each of us to follow in His footsteps and imitate Him. However, this invitation does not end with us alone; we, too, are called to invite others into a relationship with Christ.
