A condemned man stands before the firing squad when a messenger runs into the square with a pardon, that moment changed the whole of Fyodor Dostoevsky’s later life. Paul lived with something similar: he called himself a blasphemer and a persecutor, and yet he received mercy (1 Timothy 1). The sermon speaks about a past that does not disqualify anyone from serving, and about the gratitude that nine of the ten healed men forgot. Grateful and Generous
Gratitude and generosity are inseparable. Happy people are usually those who are grateful for what they have. And the more grateful we are and the more we rejoice in what we have received, the more we want to share with others so that they, too, may experience that joy. So how can gratitude and generosity manifest themselves in different areas of our lives? We’ll explore this in a series of sermons titled “Grateful and Generous.”
